Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams wasn't the only thing that the Seattle Seahawks lost this week.

On Monday morning, Seattle was notified by the NFL that they've been stripped of a fifth round draft pick in the 2017 draft, they've been fined $400K, and they have to forfeit their first week of 2017 OTAs for “violating NFL-NFLPA work rules that prohibit excessive contact in all offseason workouts.”

Additionally, Adam Schefter reports that Pete Carroll has been fined $200K for the incident, as he is responsible “for maintaining appropriate control over practices and intervening if prohibited conduct occurs.”

Here's a further explanation in the official statement from the NFL:

“During the team's June 6, 2016 Organized Team Activity (OTA) day, players engaged in excessive on-field physical contact, which is expressly prohibited in all offseason workouts under the NFL-NFLPA Collective Bargaining Agreement. The prohibition is one of several measures the NFL and NFLPA implemented to enhance player safety by limited contract during offseason workout programs. The rules also prevent any team from gaining a competitive advantage.”

It should be noted that the players won't be penalized with any lost salary for the missed week of OTAs.
