The Seattle Seahawks began training camp with Bobby Wagner being present despite wanting a new deal. Wagner showed up to play, and now he is getting paid.

According to Ian Rapoport, Wagner agreed to a three-year extension with Seattle. Signing Wagner for three more years assures the Seahawks that they will have their leader on defense for the long haul. Wagner was entering the last year of his current contract.

According to Rapoport, the deal is worth $54 million, making him the highest-paid inside linebacker in the NFL. The Seahawks linebacker became interested in a new deal when C.J. Mosley signed a lucrative contract with the New York Jets.

Mosley signed a five-year, $85 million deal that paid the former Baltimore Ravens linebacker $17 million per season. As a result, the asking price for a player of Wagner's caliber increased, and the Seahawks delivered.

It was crucial for Seattle to retain Wagner as he is the engine that keeps the Seahawks defense going. Since being drafted in 2012, Wagner is a four-time All-Pro, five-time Pro-Bowler, and has helped Seattle secure a Super Bowl win in 2013.

Plus, there has only been one season in Wagner's seven-year career where he has had less than 130 total tackles. That level of production and consistency is not easy to find in the NFL.

After Russell Wilson signed his long-term extension earlier this offseason, Seattle turned their attention to securing Wagner for the next few seasons.

Now, Wagner can show up to the next practice in training camp with more money in his pocket. Many people believe that Wagner is the best inside linebacker of the NFL, and now he is getting paid like it.
