The Seattle Seahawks have entered the second phase of their voluntary offseason workouts, but one guy that isn't there is Earl Thomas.
For Thomas, there are a lot of questions surrounding what exactly is going to happen with him, and it seems like he and the team might not even know.
Coming into the draft, many believed that the Seahawks would trade him to the Dallas Cowboys for draft picks. That didn't end up happening, and although there is still a chance he could be traded, that seems more and more like the less likely scenario.
Thomas only has one year left on his contract and will become an unrestricted free agent after this season. He has made it clear that he would like an extension with the Seahawks but he understands that anything can happen.

“In my case, whether I'm in Seattle or anywhere else, I'm going to be rich and happy regardless,” Thomas said. “So, it's a cut-throat league, but if you're at the top of your game and you don't give them any reasons to devalue you, you're good. That's just how I look at it.”
Thomas is one of the best safeties in football, and if he hits the open market next year, he is going to be demanding a big contract. With most of the “Legion of Boom” gone, and the Seahawks looking to go younger in the secondary though there are some rumblings that the Seahawks might be ready for him to move on.
If the Seahawks don't budge with a new contract, don't expect Thomas to yield anytime soon.
