Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas has already made his feelings known about what he wants the team to do regarding his future. And he’s done so again in his article on The Players’ Tribune.
“Offer me an extension. Or trade me to a team that wants me to be part of their future,” Thomas said.
Thomas, who is in the final year of his four-year, $40 million deal with the Seahawks, goes into detail about why he’s been holding out all offseason. He believes he deserves to get paid after being among the best defensive players for close to a decade.

I’ve been one of the best defensive players in this league for the better part of a decade, and the numbers show that this team plays much better with me than without me. Beyond that, I still have some great years of football left in my tank. I’m not even close to slowing down. I’m still working to get better.”
Thomas also said he understands if the Seahawks don’t plan to keep him long-term and realizes that it’s just part of the business to rebuild. But he asks that if the team doesn't want him anymore, they should trade him to a team that does.
The Seahawks reportedly told Thomas and his representatives earlier this offseason that his contract wouldn’t be addressed, so it’s unlikely he receives an extension. And in terms of a trade, the Seahawks reportedly still have a high price set for Thomas, which has hindered a trade to his preferred destination, the Dallas Cowboys.
Unless the Seahawks relax their stance on one of those options, it seems like Thomas could be willing to take his holdout into the regular season as he continues to fight for what he deserves.
