Russell Wilson isn't playing around. The Seattle Seahawks quarterback let his plans be known, and he's sticking by them. Wilson recently imposed April 15th as the deadline to get an extension done by, and if the Seahawks were hoping for some flexibility there then they're out of luck.

Wilson will not sign any extension after April 15th, sources told Adam Schefter of ESPN.

That means if they want to lock him up, Seattle will need to do so by the end of today. Since Wilson is heading into the final year of his contract, Schefter writes that the team “presumably will place their franchise tag on Wilson” next offseason if they can't sign him to an extension.

This whole situation with Wilson has escalated rather quickly. It never seemed like there was any trouble between the two sides until Wilson suddenly imposed this deadline out of nowhere. Since then, rumors have swirled about Wilson not being happy in Seattle, and about a possible trade.

It would still be pretty shocking if the Seahawks traded Wilson, but it's a possibility that can't be fully discounted at this point. For his part, Wilson is expected “to participate in all of the Seahawks' offseason activities and attend training camp,” even if he doesn't get a new deal, Schefter writes.

This is the biggest story in the NFL right now, and the whole league will be watching to see what happens. As the deadline looms, more news should trickle out.

There have been murmurs that the Seahawks don't want to tie up such a huge portion of their cap on a quarterback and would prefer to go cheaper at the position, but that still seems unlikely at this point.

Whatever happens, we know that Wilson will be sticking to his guns.
