The Seattle Seahawks are looking to add some more firepower to their defense before the 2020 season and they could have their sights on a former first-round pick. According to Adam Caplan, an NFL insider on SiriusXM NFL Radio, Seattle has been linked to defensive tackle Marcell Dareus.

NFL Network's Mike Silver reported that the Seahawks are expressing interest in Clay Matthews and Everson Griffen off of the edge. Besides looking for an edge rusher, Seattle seems interested in adding depth to the interior of their defensive line as well.

Of course, some fans in Seattle were wondering if the team would bring back Jadeveon Clowney. However, with Clowney not returning, the Seahawks have some money to spend to improve the defensive front.

Dareus began his career as the No. 3 pick in the 2011 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills. The Alabama product would combine for 34 sacks, 44 tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles in his first six seasons. He would also earn two Pro Bowl selections and one All-Pro honor.

But after Dareus showed signs of slowing down, the Bills traded Dareus to the Jacksonville Jaguars during the 2017 season. The stout interior defender would play the last two seasons in Jacksonville, totaling just 1.5 sacks and three tackles for loss in 21 starts.

Currently, the Seahawks boast an interior defensive line that features Poona Ford and Jarran Reed. Aside from that, Seattle is a bit thin at defensive tackle entering the upcoming season. Given that, it wouldn't come as a surprise if the Seahawks ink a deal with Dareus and possibly another edge defender soon.
