The Seattle Seahawks have re-signed offensive lineman Mike Iupati to a one-year deal, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
This marks the second straight year that Iupati agreed to a one-year pact with the Seahawks. He played in every game this past season and was named a Pro Bowl alternate.
Iupati, who played his collegiate football at the University of Idaho, was originally selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the first round (17th pick overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft.
He immediately started every game at left guard for the 49ers during his rookie campaign. It didn't take long for Iupati to establish himself as one of the top offensive linemen in football, as he made the Pro Bowl and earned a First-Team All-Pro selection as soon as his third season.
Iupati made four straight Pro Bowl appearances between 2012 and 2015, the last of which came with the Arizona Cardinals after he signed a five-year, $40 million contract with the club in March 2015.
However, after a couple of seasons with the Cardinals, injuries began to derail Iupati. He appeared in just one contest in 2017 before suffering a season-ending triceps injury, and the following year, a variety of injury issues limited him to 10 games.
Because Arizona reworked Iupati's contract to make the last year of his deal voidable, the Cards parted ways with the Samoan after 2018. That was when he joined his third NFC West club in Seattle.
The Seahawks won 11 games and made it to the Divisional Round of the playoffs this past season, where they ultimately fell to the Green Bay Packers.
