The Seattle Seahawks managed to make quite a splash with the addition of wide receiver Josh Gordon following his release from the New England Patriots. It appears wide receiver Gary Jennings has become the casualty of that move.
According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Seahawks have waived Jennings in order to make room for Gordon.
Days after claiming WR Josh Gordon off waivers, the Seahawks have waived WR Gary Jennings, a 4th-round draft pick in April.
Although it is an unfortunate turn of events for Jennings, the move should hardly come as any surprise. The rookie has not been able to etch ut any kind of role for himself in the offense and remains without a single catch in the 2019 NFL season.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks managed to add another potential playmaker to the passing game in Gordon. The veteran registered 20 catches for 280 yards and a touchdown prior to suffering a knee injury in Week 6 that landed him on IR. He will now have a chance to finish out the year with a bonafide MVP candidate in quarterback Russell Wilson.
Wilson has made the most out of his weapons in Seattle with wide receivers Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf. He will now have a chance to establish quite a trio in the passing game now that Gordon is in the mix.
While it is no secret that head coach Pete Carroll has an affinity for establishing the run, the Seahawks could use a more downfield approach now that Gordon brings yet another added element of explosiveness to the offense.
