The current situation between quarterback Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks has certainly put the entire league on notice. An NFC team in the Washington Football Team is continuing on its search for a franchise quarterback and the Pro Bowler will definitely be targeted if he bounces out of Seattle in the near future.

“They’re certainly going to be evaluating any quarterback who’s available. Like this Russell Wilson chatter is not lost on them I can assure you that. And it’s more than chatter, there’s a thing brewing there. Not as Deshaun Watson levels yet, it may be amendable, there may be some way to keep that thing together but people are monitoring it and I can tell you Washington is doing that.”
Wilson recently expressed his frustrations with the Seahawks' failure to surround him with pass protection, especially after reports have emerged that he amassed a total of 394 sacks in a span of nine seasons.
The gaping hole in Seattle's roster might have potentially led to the team's early exit in the 2020 NFL Playoffs when they succumbed to division rival Los Angeles Rams on a 30-20 defeat in the NFC Wild Card Round.
Wilson finished the 2020 season with tallies of 4,212 passing yards on 384 completions along with 40 touchdowns to nab his eighth Pro Bowl appearance.
Meanwhile, Washington has previously experimented with a bevy of quarterbacks under center to no avail. Former QB1 Dwayne Haskins found himself out of the team before the season ended and is now set to suit up for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Veteran playmaker Alex Smith had a commendable season which led him to bag the 2020 NFL Comeback Player of the Year, two years after suffering a gruesome leg injury. Despite his resurgence, Smith has yet to announce if he will continue to play next season.
On the other hand, Washington already had a safety net in place as the team signed quarterback Taylor Heinicke to a two-year, $8.75 million contract. The former undrafted player was named as a starter in their Wild Card Round against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after Smith was unavailable due to a calf injury at the time.
Though Russell Wilson's relationship with the Seahawks is amenable, the Washington Football Team is still expected to make a run to acquire the quarterback's services when the opportunity arises.
