The Tampa Bay Buccaneers interviewed Bruce Arians for their head-coaching job on Saturday, according to Carmen Vitali of the Buccaneers' official team website.

Arians is the third candidate to be interviewed for the position this offseason. He is familiar with Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht, as the two worked together while with the Arizona Cardinals in 2013.

Arians is a two-time Coach of the Year, winning the award in both 2012 and 2014. Here is the interesting thing about the former year, though: Arians won that award as interim coach of the Indianapolis Colts, as Colts head coach Chuck Pagano was out due to health issues at the time. However, because Arians was serving as an interim role, the 9-3 record he amassed during that time does not count toward his overall record.

So, Arians basically won Coach of the Year in spite of his wins and losses not counting. Weird.

After the 66-year-old's impressive season in Indianapolis, he was hired as head coach of the Cardinals, recording double-digit win totals in each of his first three years with the team and taking Arizona to the playoffs in 2014 and 2015, including a trip to the NFC Championship Game during the latter season.

Arians spent five years with the Cards overall, but after back-to-back campaigns without a postseason appearance in 2016 and 2017, Arians and the Cardinals parted ways, as the Paterson, N.J. native had also been dealing with health issues during his tenure as Arizona's coach.

Tampa Bay went just 5-11 this year and fired Dirk Koetter after Koetter spent three seasons at the helm.
