The Tampa Bay Buccaneers began to see the light at the end of the tunnel when three-time NFL MVP Tom Brady joined the team during the offseason. Former Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston was forced to pack his bags and eventually joined a division rival in the New Orleans Saints.
Head coach Bruce Arians voiced out his sentiments when asked about the impact that Brady has had in a short period of time spent with the team:
“He talks. You listen,” Arians said. “I mean, you gotta be an idiot not to listen to the guy. And he’s such a great guy in the locker room, especially with young players, helping them and coaching them on and off the field. So yeah, it’s changed a lot of things.”
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were once a mediocre team settling in the middle of the NFC South division. Although not dominant, the team showed a lot of promise with the capabilities of Jameis Winston playing under center along with Pro Bowl wide receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin on the wings.
However, Winston's high tally of interceptions and the duo nursing injuries kept the Bucs from performing at their best last season. All that is now in the past as the team is opening another chapter in their history books.
The arrival of Tom Brady will bring invaluable veteran leadership and stability to the young and inexperienced team. His returning pal in Rob Gronkowski can still play at a high level if he manages to stay healthy throughout the upcoming season.
High aspirations and expectations are being set by many on the revamped Buccaneers team that is looking to book a trip to the Super Bowl stage for the first time since 2002.
