The Tampa Bay Buccaneers pulled off one of the splashiest moves of the NFL offseason when they acquired NFL legend and the potential greatest player of all time,  Tom Brady, who had spent the prior 19 seasons of his career with the New England Patriots.

On Tuesday, the Buccaneers continued to pile up former Patriots legends by trading for longtime Brady compatriot Rob Gronkowski. The Bucs sent over a fourth-round 2020 draft pick in exchange for Gronkowski and a seventh-round 2020 NFL Draft pick.

Buccaneers General Manager Jason Licht was effusive in his praise for the seven-year veteran who last played in 2018, via Pro Football Talk.

“Rob Gronkowski is one of the best tight ends in NFL history, and he plays the game with the type of passion and desire that sets him apart,” Licht said in a statement. “Rob has played his entire career alongside Tom Brady and their accomplishments speak for themselves. Together they have developed the type of chemistry on and off the field that is crucial to success. Rob combines elite-level skills as both a receiver and blocker, but what really makes him special is the fact that he’s a proven winner who brings that championship mindset and work ethic.”

Indeed, the NFC South will be a fascinating place in 2020 with three of the teams in the division (Buccaneers, Panthers, and Saints) all looking at new faces at the starting quarterback position in Week 1.

While Brady and Gronkowski have likely seen the best of their playing days in New England, it will be a fascinating campaign in 2020 to see how the duo’s chemistry is holding up in a new environment.
