The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set for a Wild Card round clash with the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday. Tampa Bay entered the playoffs with several injuries, most notably to stars on both sides of the ball in running back Leonard Fournette and linebacker Lavonte David, both of whom were expected back for the playoffs. On Friday, the Buccaneers got huge updates on Fournette and David, who received injury designations ahead of the game vs. the Eagles, via NBC Sports.
Head coach Bruce Arians called both players game-time decisions for the playoff opener. While Arians isn’t sure that Fournette is going to play, he did tell reporters that he’ll be playing a lot if he is in the lineup.
Per Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians, Leonard Fournette and Lavonte David will both be game-time decisions for the playoff game against the Eagles. Both players were designated to return from IR this week after lengthy absences due to injury, but it appears that Tampa Bay isn't necessarily counting on either one of them to be active.
David, 31. was the team's second-leading tackler behind Devin White this season and is one of the leaders of the unit that helped slow down the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl last season.
Meanwhile, Fournette, or ‘Playoff Lenny' as he is known around the area, was the team's leading rusher both in the postseason last year and in the regular season this year. Interestingly enough, Arians said that he doesn't know if Fournette will play but that he will “play a lot” if he does.
Arians isn't going to tip his hand, so Buccaneers fans will have to wait until game-time to know if stars Leonard Fournette and Lavonte David are playing against the Eagles or not.
