Rob Gronkowski was involved in a viral moment in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Week 18 game against the Carolina Panthers this past season. Gronk needed seven catches and 85 yards in the game to hit two separate $500,000 bonuses (55 catches and 750 yards) in his contract, and video was released of him talking on the sidelines with Tom Brady and others about it. The tight end hit the yards bonus easily, but he needed one last catch to get to seven for the game and 55 for the season. Despite the game being a blowout, he stayed in and got that catch.
This was a topic of conversation during Gronkowski's recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! When Kimmel asked Gronk if had ever seen something like that happen before, he had to get in a playful jab at the New England Patriots:
Rob Gronkowski on the #Bucs leaving him in the game to get his catch bonus last season: "I've seen that happen before. Not with the Patriots, though. They'll probably pull you before you hit that bonus there…"
"I shouldn't have said that." 😂pic.twitter.com/p6ohcaT2gQ

Gronkowski obviously had a great career with the Patriots, and while there were some rumors of a beef with Bill Belichick, he has steadfastly denied them. This being Gronk, these comments were surely made all in good fun.
Of course, as funny as all this is, everybody is wondering whether or not Gronkowski will be returning to the Buccaneers for the 2022 season. Good buddy Tom Brady is back in the fold after his brief retirement, and now it's Gronk's turn to decide. He recently said he's still not ready to make that decision yet, so we continue to wait as he ponders his future in the NFL.
