Back in 2017, Fry went undrafted out of South Carolina, but he was able to join the Alliance of American Football with the Orlando Apollos. Before the AAF disbanded, Fry was perfect on his field-goal attempts, making all 14 of his tries.
After having success in the AAF, Fry was signed by the Chicago Bears to compete at the kicker position in 2019. Of course, he was brought in after Cody Parkey had the infamous double-doink kick for the Bears in the playoffs.
Unfortunately for Fry, he was unable to win Chicago's starting job, while Eddy Pineiro became the starter. Following a short stint with the Bears, Fry signed with the Baltimore Ravens. Similar to his time in Chicago, Fry didn't last long in Baltimore.
Nonetheless, he agreed to a future/reserves contract with the Panthers last December. But after being waived by Carolina, Fry lands back in the NFC South with the Buccaneers.
Article Continues BelowBy signing with Tampa Bay, Fry is going to be competing with Matt Gay for the starting job next season. Last season, Gay started in all 16 games for the Buccaneers at kicker.
Over the course of those 16 games, Gay made 27 of his 35 field-goal attempts. In addition, he missed five of his 48 extra-point tries. While the Buccaneers are hoping to score more points with Tom Brady under center, they may have a new kicker in place in 2020.
