The Tampa Bay Buccaneers received a huge boost on Sunday when Tom Brady shockingly came out of retirement less than two months after calling it quits on his NFL career. That seems to have had a significant impact on the future of some Buccanees' free agents, as already one key defender has agreed to re-sign with the team. According to Ian Rapoport, Carlton Davis is expected to remain in Tampa Bay and re-sign with the Buccaneers.

Davis will be making $15 million per season over the course of three years, so he'll pocket $45 million in total. It's a surprisingly team-friendly deal from one of the league's best cornerbacks. Carmen Vitali indicates Davis was in line to earn as much as $19.6 million this offseason, suggesting his pay cut was a direct result of Brady's return to football.
That's quite a lot of money to leave on the table, but Davis' contract is an indication of his commitment to winning with the Buccaneers. The money saved by getting a bargain on Davis' deal can be used towards landing other free agents in order to reach the Super Bowl next season.
Last year, Davis featured in 10 games for the Buccaneers, battling injury for much of the season. He recorded 1 interception, 11 pass breakups, 39 tackles, and 2 tackles for loss. When healthy, he was Tampa's top cornerback, and Buccaneers should be fired up to have such a quality member of the secondary back at a discounted rate.
Davis was the Buccaneers' second-round draft pick in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Auburn and has since developed into a key contributor in Tampa Bay's secondary.
