It was an unprecedented day in sports history with nearly every major professional league canceling their games to protest the police shooting of Jacob Blake. Even teams in the NFL got involved by shutting down practice to determine a course of action to usher in potential change. According to NFL Network's James Palmer, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady gave his piece on the protests across sports:

“I think everyone makes the choices they feel are best for them… trying to continue to listen and learn”

There have been a number of quarterbacks to use their platform to take a stand with their teammates and speak out against racial injustice and police brutality. It is safe to say that Brady's efforts in this aspect have largely been underwhelming.

Of course, this hardly comes as any surprise given Brady's well-documented friendship with President Donald Trump. After all, many of his fellow players have attributed the increase in racial tensions to Trump's divisive rhetoric. Although the six-time Super Bowl champ has managed to keep sports and politics separate from any soundbites, it has become an inevitability now that the two have been merged.

It has been deemed a foregone conclusion that teams around the the NFL will continue to take action in their own way. While expectations may be as high as ever for the Bucs heading into the 2020 NFL season, it will be interesting to see if Brady's hesitance to take a stand ultimately has an effect on the team chemistry in the locker room.
