Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady wasted no time getting acquainted with his new teammates this offseason. It appears even tackle Tristan Wirfs has had the pleasure of meeting the future Hall of Famer in the flesh.

The Bucs added a major boost to their offensive line by taking Wirfs with the 13th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, the rookie recalled meeting Brady for the first time:

“He said, ‘What's up big dawg,” Wirfs said. “I thought it was kind of crazy because he's Tom Brady. Then he asked how old I was, I told him 21. He kind of started laughing. He said, “you have experience, I have double your experience.'

It is safe to say that there is plenty of truth to Brady's comments. Although the 42-year-old may be boasting twice as much experience as Wirfs is, he will be relying on his protection heavily in the 2020 NFL season.

Brady's arrival this offseason has ushered in high expectations for Tampa Bay. While he may be joining an offense that is already loaded with elite talent, the onus will ultimately fall on him to put it together. Fortunately, his track record suggests good reason to be optimistic as long as he has a clean pocket to work with.

With training camp almost in full swing, Wirfs will be tasked with fortifying the right side of the line for Brady. Although this could be a tall task for any rookie, the experience under center and across the board should help pay huge dividends.
