Tom Brady is now in the NFC South, which means that the New Orleans Saints' run of three straight division titles is in serious jeopardy. Brady signed a two-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers back in March, ending his 20-year stay with the New England Patriots.
The Buccaneers will face the Saints in their season opener in September, and apparently, New Orleans head coach Sean Payton has already been sending Brady some trash-talking texts.
Brady's response to the trash talk has been simple:
Article Continues BelowâOh, you guys are the favorite and we're the underdogs,â said Brady, according to Katherine Terrell of The Athletic.
This is genius on Brady's part, because he is essentially making it a win-win situation for the Bucs and a lose-lose situation for the Saints.
By calling Tampa Bay the underdog, Brady is basically saying that if New Orleans beats his squad, it won't be a big deal because it's what the Saints are supposed to do. But if the Buccaneers beat the Saints? Then Brady will own huge bragging rights.
Brady is coming off of a 2019 campaign in which he threw for 4,057 yards, 24 touchdowns and eight interceptions while completing 60.8 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 88.0. It marked the first time that Brady missed the Pro Bowl since 2008, when he was knocked out for the season in Week 1 due to a torn ACL.
But now, Brady will be joining a Bucs squad that is rife with weapons in the aerial attack, unlike his Patriots club from a year ago.
