Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry has reportedly agreed to a new long-term contract extension with the franchise, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
There had been plenty of speculation as to whether Henry and the Titans would reach an agreement before Wednesday's deadline, but it appears that they have made the most of their contract talks.

According to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports, Derrick Henry's new contract is a four-year deal.

Schefter later added the details of Henry's deal, which is set to be worth $50 million.

In a story published earlier this week, Schefter had mentioned that the Titans organization and Henry weren't “expected to find common ground” pertaining to talks about a long-term contract for the star back. The ESPN media man also stated that Tennessee general manager Jon Robinson “hinted” that this is how things would fall through due to the uncertainty surrounding the salary caps future, which was brought upon by the current pandemic.
Henry was drafted by the Titans with 45th overall pick back in 2016 and has played every season since in Tennessee. In the 2019 season, the former Heisman Trophy winner led the NFL in rushing yards and tied Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones with 16 rushing touchdowns for most in the league. Henry has averaged over a rushing thousand yards and at least 12 touchdowns his past two seasons with the Titans.
After leading the NFL in rushing during the 2019 season, Henry figures to once again be one of the best running backs in the league entering the 2020 campaign with the Titans, who will try to get back to the AFC title game and potentially make it to the Super Bowl.
