Washington made headlines on Wednesday when they officially unveiled their new name to be the Commanders. However, that wasn't the only big headline the franchise made. Commanders head coach Ron Rivera spoke out on Brian Flores amid the former Miami Dolphins head coach's lawsuit against the NFL. Here are Rivera's words, via ESPN.

“This is a very accomplished coach,” said Rivera, one of three head coaches of color in the NFL. “I can see the frustration and I can feel the frustration. It's almost as if this is your last resort. How does a guy like that get left out of the hiring cycle?

“If you put his résumé — and took the name off and changed the team he coached for and grew up with — and put it on the table and looked at all the résumés, Brian Flores is the type of résumé you point at. Let's judge on merit.”

These are strong words from Commanders head coach Ron Rivera on Brian Flores amid the NFL lawsuit. Rivera makes a very good point in that it almost seemed as if Flores was a last resort to teams.

The Commanders head coach also raises a valid point in that many NFL teams would jump at the opportunity to hire Flores if his name wasn't on his resume.

Brian Flores may find it very difficult to find a head coaching job in the NFL due to his lawsuit. However, it helps to have people in such positions, like Commanders head coach Ron Rivera, on his side.
