Washington Football Team head coach Ron Rivera previously announced that he sustained cancer in a lymph node back in August 2020. Today, somehow, this post ends up with him talking about how Taco Bell and Mountain Dew helped him, but more context first.
Since the diagnosis, he underwent seven weeks of treatment, forcing him out of three practices, though he still managed to not miss any of his team's games.
Considering his condition, Rivera had to be picky with the kinds of food that he would intake. He had specific food that he was advised to avoid since anything acidic or spicy would cause a burn in his throat, via ESPN‘s John Keim. As a result, Rivera clung to an unlikely pairing of Mountain Dew and Taco Bell tacos to help him get through those tough times.

The only things I could truly drink were root beer and Mountain Dew. Those tasted normal and helped me eat from that point on. What's crazy is one of the foods that helped me get through this was Taco Bell tacos, for whatever reason.”
The two-time NFL Coach of the Year recently finished his treatment back on October 26, which served as a good sign of positive things to come regarding his health. His high-spirited outlook after undergoing the treatments eventually became contagious for the entire team which also took positive strides on the field as of late.
The Washington Football Team recently saw an upswing in their performances, highlighted by their ongoing three-game winning streak. Their most recent win also saw the team successfully topple the league-best Pittsburgh Steelers who previously owned an immaculate 11-0 record prior to their Week 13 loss to Washington.
With a 5-7 record, the Washington Football Team is currently on the verge of gaining the top spot in the NFC East if they manage to come out with a win against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 14 action.
Ron Rivera's successful battle against cancer along with quarterback Alex Smith's comeback story should both serve as inspirations for the Washington Football Team in their bid to return to relevance moving forward.
