The new movie Nightbitch, starring Amy Adams, is coming soon. A poster for the film gives us a glimpse of what's to come.

Adams glares at us all in the image, seemingly dirty and bruised. This makes sense, considering the film is about a woman convinced she's a dog. So, maybe she was just in a doggone dogfight? There's the tagline that reads: “Motherhood is a bitch.”

Variety reports that the Searchlight film will be released in theaters on December 6. It sounds pretty interesting, as the official logline says it's about a female “thrown into the stay-at-home routine of raising a toddler in the suburbs, who slowly embraces the feral power deeply rooted in motherhood, as she becomes increasingly aware of the bizarre and undeniable signs that she may be turning into a canine.”

Along with Adams, Scoot McNairy plays her traveling husband. Marielle Heller, who directed The Diary of a Teenage Girl, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, and Can You Ever Forgive Me, wrote and directed the film based on Rachel Yoder's novel of the same name.

“Rachel Yoder's book took my breath away,” Heller said. “I haven't felt this way about a book since I read The Diary of a Teenage Girl many years ago. Rachel's darkly hilarious tale of motherhood and rage made me feel seen. And adapting it with Amy Adams in mind has been the thing that has kept me going through the pandemic.”

Meanwhile, PEOPLE reported that Adams recently celebrated her 9th wedding anniversary with her husband, Darren Le Gallo. Le Gallo is known as an actor and artist who directed Sam & Kate. He shared an Instagram post of the two of them on a boat that definitely indicates he's not in the dog house.

“9yrs married today, and going on 22yrs together-Still my better half. Happy Anniversary lady,” he wrote in the caption.

The couple shares their 13-year-old daughter, Aviana. Adams seems to find it quite hot that her husband is such a good parent.

“It's sexy to see him raising a girl and teaching her how a man should treat her in a lovely way,” she told Marie Claire.

Along with this dog-based movie, Deadline reports that the actress is also set to star in the drama At the Sea by filmmakers Kornel Mundruczó and Kata Wéber. It's a film about the life of Laura (Adams). After a lengthy rehabilitation, she visits family at their beach holiday home, where she has to readjust to many complications that she left. From there, she's forced to encounter the next chapter of her life without the career that gave her an identity and more.

We'll see what Amy Adams and Nightbitch has in store for us as it barks into theaters later this year.
