Mack Brown had a hard time fending off the West Virginia football squad in their Mayo Bowl loss. He now has to look forward to the future after only getting eight games and failing to get a College Football Playoff spot. It also seems like some decisions have been made. Particularly, regarding Conner Harrell despite the entry of Max Johnson in the North Carolina football program.

“I will be competing next year. I'm getting more reps, along with Max, competing for the spot,” was the revelation that Conner Harrell dropped after the North Carolina football team lost the Mayo Bowl.

There are a lot of adjustments to be made in Harrell's style of play and he knows it. However, his focus for the offseason would be to improve his decision-making and in-game senses. All of this may have come to light after they lost to West Virginia.

The North Carolina football's offensive engine did not look very efficient. He may have thrown 18 completions on 27 passing attempts which notched Mack Brown 199 yards. But, that may not cut it. His two interceptions thrown straight into the opposing secondary cost the team some momentum. The touchdown he had was just eclipsed by a lot of mistakes.

If he truly wants to get the title of North Carolina football's starting quarterback, a lot of work has to be done. Not to mention, he will have some competition in Max Johnson heading into the 2024 season. Overall, it is safe to say that the quarterback room just got more heated in the Tar Heels system.
