Through the first couple of days of free agency, the Denver Nuggets have been one of the more active teams in the market. They are looking to add more talent, but so far, they are yet to make any significant moves.
In light of that, RealGM is reporting that the Nuggets are the favorites to land All-Star forward Paul Millsap in free agency.
The Denver Nuggets are now considered the favorites to sign Paul Millsap.
Millsap has been exploring his options on the open market, which included meeting with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday. However, it appears that boat has sailed, with the Timberwolves inking veteran forward Taj Gibson to a two-year, $28 million deal on Sunday morning.
With Danilo Gallinari likely on his way out, the Nuggets are in need of front court help, and Millsap could certainly fill it. He is one of the most skilled big men in the league at his position given the versatility of his offensive game. Millsap can be a factor inside the paint and he can stretch it out to the 3-point line efficiently.
Millsap has earned four straight All-Star Game selections. Last season, he averaged a career-high 18.1 points with 7.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. His addition to the Nuggets would be a big step forward, helping them become a playoff team in the Western Conference alongside their young core headed by Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic.
