Isaiah Thomas has yet to step on the floor for the Denver Nuggets, but his presence on the team is impossible to miss. The diminutive point guard is a loud voice in the locker room and his teammates are loving his energy and enthusiasm.
“‘Do you have something to say, do you see something?’ ” says point guard Monte Morris to Mike Singer of the Denver Post. “Every time IT has something.”
Sometimes it's easier for players to pick up on things from the bench. Isaiah Thomas is doing his best to make sure he stays engaged and does everything he can to help his teammates succeed. Some of the younger players are leaning on the veteran point guard for guidance.
“He’s probably annoyed at me because I ask him so many questions,” said Malik Beasley. “He’s been through it all. Last pick to MVP candidate. He’s seen it all.”
Furthermore, Thomas' presence is taking some of the pressure off of the other veterans on the roster — guys like Paul Millsap.
“To have his voice in our locker room, to help some of these younger guys out, it takes a lot of load off myself,” Millsap said.
Isaiah Thomas went from an MVP candidate to a guy who was forced to sign a one-year contract on a “prove it” deal. That being said, Thomas seems to be bringing the right attitude in Denver. But don't take my word for it — it's just what everyone on the Nuggets is saying.
