Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray took a big leap in the postseason this season; however, he believes he still has a lot to improve on to reach his ultimate goal.

In a recent interview with Ashley Brooke, Murray said that his main goal is to be the best player in the world.

“I knew I was going to be here, but now my goal is to be the greatest,” Jamal Murray said. “I wanna be the best player in the world — that is my goal and my dream. I knew I've always had the talent, but to actually be here and actually have a chance at it, it gives me a lot of motivation.”

The Nuggets were hoping Murray would turn into an All-Star caliber player when they extended his contract this past offseason — and sure enough, he exceeded their expectations. Murray took a tremendous leap in the postseason, averaging 26.5 points, 6.6 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game.

Jamal Murray also had two of the best performances in the NBA bubble. During the first round against the Utah Jazz, Murray dropped two 50-point games to lead the Nuggets to the semifinals. Then in the conference semifinals, he helped the Nuggets complete a 3-1 comeback against the Los Angeles Clippers — who were favorites to win the 2020 championship.

But most importantly, Murray proved that he can perform at a top-level against the league's top defenders. Against the Clippers, Murray was guarded by some of the best defenders in the league in Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and Patrick Beverly.

Nevertheless, considering that Murray is only 23 years old, he still has lots of time to improve to be the best player in the world.
