For NBA legend Kevin McHale, the Denver Nuggets' series win over the San Antonio Spurs validates the Mike Malone-led squad. For him, the Nuggets play basketball the right way.

Per Sean Keeler of the Denver Post, McHale pointed out that the rise of Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic has turned the Nuggets into basketball team worth watching. In the regular season, they tallied 54-win season for second in the West. Many were curious to see if the Nuggets can mirror their regular season success in the postseason. After all, history says that regular season success doesn't always replicate into the same thing come playoff time. For McHale, getting over the Gregg Popovich squad validates that they are a legitimate team.

“Yeah, it does (validate them),” McHale said. “I mean, they’re interesting to everybody, because (Jamal) Murray’s turned into a really nice guard that can really play. And (Nikola) Jokic is unique.

McHale, a three-time champion and part of the legendary Boston Celtics team in the 80s, has observed that the Nuggets have a ‘Plan B' on offense. They just don't rely on the drive-and-kick strategy. They can also feed it to the post.

“These (Nuggets) are gifted, they play basketball the right away. And to me, they actually can play a couple different ways. Most of these teams play a drive-and-kick game, which I think is fantastic basketball — until you run into a team that can guard the drive-and-kick. And that means, do you have a big guy that can post up? What’s Plan B? These guys have a Plan B. They can play out of Jokic in the post. They can play out of (Paul) Millsap in the post.”

Indeed, the Nuggets have risen from a bottomfeeding team into a playoff contender. Their true skill will be tested once they go deeper and deeper into the playoffs.
