The Denver Nuggets learned on Wednesday that their first-round opponent in the playoffs is going to be the Utah Jazz. Nuggets big man Nikola Jokic seems to be excited about their upcoming battle, and the All-Star center did his bit to hype up the matchup.

Jokic pointed out that they have had more than a few tough battles against the Jazz over the years, and this first-round meeting should be no different:

“It’s a really good matchup,” Jokic said, via Johnny Askounis of Eurohoops.net. “It’s always kind of tough between us and them. It’s going to be a really interesting series. We have issues with just about everything. It will come down to how we will manage to hide them.”

In true Jokic form, the Serbian national also reiterated how he believes this is going to be a fun series:

“I think it’s gonna be a really nice series,” Jokic added (h/t Mike Singer of The Denver Post). “I think we all are going to enjoy it … including you guys.”

Denver has lost two consecutive games, including a 124-111 defeat to the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday. The Nuggets blew their shot at securing the second seed in the West and will have to settle for the third spot. The Jazz have likewise locked their position at sixth, resulting in a highly anticipated first-round matchup with the Nuggets.

For his part, Jokic's play will ultimately determine how well the Nuggets will fare against the Jazz, as well as for the rest of the playoffs should they be able to get through Utah. The Nuggets star will face a formidable opponent in fellow All-Star Rudy Gobert, so all eyes will be on them as they go at it. While Denver has the edge in this series on paper, it should be a hard-fought battle.
