The Oklahoma football program is gearing up for its postseason Alamo Bowl matchup against the Arizona Wildcats. The Sooners finished the regular season with an impressive 10-2 record. The Wildcats had an equally impressive 2023 run. Brent Venables gave Arizona praise for its player mention before the big game.

Venables is impressed with Arizona's ability to retain its players, per Justin Spears. This is what the Sooners head coach said about the program on Wednesday:

“They've got NFL guys all over the place. They're in high demand in the landscape of college football, yet they choose to stay,” Venables said.

One example of a high-caliber player Arizona possesses is sophomore receiver Tetairoa McMillan. In his second year with the Wildcats, McMillan pulled in 1,242 yards and 10 touchdowns on 80 receptions.

Of course, the Wildcats also have one of the best quarterbacks in the country. Noah Fifita has thrown for 2,515 yards and 23 TDs in 2023. He boasts a QBR of 85.4, which ranks him sixth in the country. Fifita is only a freshman, but with Venables' projection, he will be back in Tucson in 2024.

The Sooners have playmakers of their own. Dillion Gabriel was incredible for Oklahoma in 2023; however, the senior has chosen to transfer to Oregon. The Sooners will look to senior wide receiver Drake Stoops to make impact plays on offense in the Alamo Bowl.

Oklahoma has a challenging test ahead of it for Thursday's game but they have the tools to come away with victory. Can the Sooners outshine Arizona's personnel?
