Olympic gold medalist Suni Lee, who was an absolute star for Team USA in Tokyo, recently revealed that she was the victim of anti-Asian hate in Los Angeles. In an interview with PopSugar, Lee said that she was waiting for an Uber on a night out in LA when a car drove by and yelled racist remarks and pepper-sprayed her on the arm.

“I was so mad, but there was nothing I could do or control because they skirted off,” Suni Lee said. “I didn't do anything to them, and having the reputation, it's so hard because I didn't want to do anything that could get me into trouble. I just let it happen.

Hate towards Asians is at an all-time high in the United States in particular because of the misleading information surrounding COVID-19. There were numerous Asian-Americans massacred in Atlanta in March as well. Aside from Suni Lee receiving hate, Jeremy Lin was also called Coronavirus in the G-League, which led to an investigation.

Lee proved to be the standout performer for Team USA in the Summer Olympics after Simone Biles stepped aside due to mental health problems. The 18-year-old is currently a freshman at Auburn and is even a regular on Dancing With The Stars since she gained fame in Japan.

Suni Lee brushed off the disturbing comments that were thrown at her but clearly, this is happening far too much.
