Team USA gymnastics superstar Simone Biles withdrew from her competition at the Tokyo Olympics and sent shockwaves throughout the entire sports world. One of the best in the world at what she does, she walked away and made the tough decision, and then proceeded to watch her team go on and win the silver medal.

Well, Biles' boyfriend is an NFL player and Houston Texans safety Jonathan Owens. Recently, Owens spoke about the tough situation of watching Biles deal with all the criticism for her decisions. (h/t Adam Schefter of ESPN)

“I was sick for her, just because I can see her face, I kind of know her facial expressions, I can kind of read her lips and kind of know what was going on and kind of what she was telling her coach…I kind of already knew what was going on beforehand, so I was just really hoping she was going to get over it and be able to go out there and perform. So I was sick to my stomach because she wasn't able to go out there.”

The situation must have been extremely difficult for Owens, who was in the United States preparing for Texans training camp while Biles was in Tokyo working for that Olympics medal she cherished and prepared for.

While Biles did end up winning the bronze medal in the balance beam, the way everything unfolded was not how anybody had imagined, especially for Owens who had been supportive of her the entire time.

Either way, Biles is one of the best in the world, as highlighted by the numerous medals she has won in the past years. Perhaps her next Olympics run could result in a few more medals as well.
