Tiger Woods is ready to roll for the Open Championship at St. Andrews. Woods famously enjoys participating in the event, and even admitted to missing the US Open to rest for the Open Championship. There are some people in the golf world who believe Woods can win this year's event. However, don't include golf legend Gary Player in that category. Player got brutally honest on Tiger Woods' chances of winning another major in his career, per Telegraph.

“I was very pleased to see Tiger Woods come back. He is an example of handling adversity and coming back much quicker than people thought he would,” Player said. “Do I think he will win another major? No, I don't think so. Will he win another tour title? Conceivably, yes. I'd love to see him win on the tour again, it would be the most wonderful thing for golf, but I don't think so.”

Player's comments are pessimistic in nature. But he later added that he is rooting for Tiger Woods.

“When you have the injuries he has had, he's limping, and it is hard to win when you are not physically fit. If anyone deserves to win it is Tiger Woods but for him to win it's going to not be easy – although you are talking about Tiger Woods.”

Gary Player also predicted the winner of the 2022 Open Championship.

“The man who has the most ability in the world today and the best swing is Rory McIlroy. No one has a swing and the ability to play golf that Rory McIlroy does. He still has to find that little something, I don't know what it is, but when he finds it watch out. I think he's going to win the Open.”

Player not only predicted that Rory McIlroy will win the event, he practically called him the best player in the world.

Woods will aim to prove Player wrong, while McIlroy will attempt to make his prediction come true. The Open Championship is set to begin on July 14th.
