It is all about social media distancing for Raiders quarterback Derek Carr.

In an interview with The Athletic’s Vic Tafur, Carr revealed that blocking out the noise in the online world is something that he practices on a regular basis. Said Carr,

“If anyone is negative to me now on Twitter, I block them out of my life. If you have something like that to say to me, I have no time for you.”

Carr, who has over 430,000 followers on Twitter, clarified that his social media distancing measure is not a sign of being unable to handle criticisms and being labeled as “soft” by the Twitterverse.

“[W]hat people get misunderstood is that they will then say that I can’t take the criticism. But it has nothing to do with that.”

Nevertheless, Carr’s focus remains on bringing home the Vince Lombardi for the silver and black, a feat that has not materialized in 37 seasons. On his championship goals, he said,

“I don’t want to waste one second on that negativity when I am trying to win a Super Bowl, if that makes sense. I have one goal and that is to win the Raiders a championship, multiple championships, and your negativity isn’t helping me.”

As the Raiders get ready for their big move to Las Vegas in the upcoming season, Carr takes a page out of the Al Davis playbook (“Just win, baby!”) for the challenges that lie on the horizon:

“Win more games. That’s the message this year. Whatever it takes. We just need to score more and win more. That’s my mindset. I don’t care about anything else.”
