Indiana Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton is on the verge of breaking an NBA record after they beat the Boston Celtics in the NBA In-Season Tournament. His versatility has him on the brink of re-writing the NBA's record books.

“Tyrese Haliburton has created, assisted, or scored 73 points per -40 minutes this season. He's on pace to break the #NBA record,” per Synergy Basketball's official X account.

Tyrese Haliburton racked up a triple-double in the Pacers' 122-112 win over the Celtics in the quarterfinals of the NBA In-Season Tournament on Monday. The fifth-year guard had 26 points, 13 assists, and 10 rebounds in the victory.

Haliburton made some clutch shots down the stretch. His four-point play off the Celtics' Jaylen Brown broke a 105-all deadlock with 1:33 left in the game. Indiana scored the next nine points to put the game out of reach.

Indy came roaring back from a 56-48 halftime deficit to remain unbeaten in NBA In-Season Tournament play. The Pacers outscored the Celtics 37-18 to take an 85-74 lead in the second half.

However, Boston wouldn't go down easy. Timely sniping from Jayson Tatum and Brown, who combined for 62 points, kept the Celtics in the game. However, Tyrese Haliburton's late four-point play changed the complexion of the game.

Indiana avenged an embarrassing 155-104 loss to the Celtics on November 1. Tyrese Haliburton missed that game and the outcome became rather predictable.

Haliburton has averaged 27.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 11.8 assists through Monday. He has played so well, he has been one of the early candidates for 2024 NBA MVP.

The Pacers will play either the Milwaukee Bucks or New York Knicks in the NBA In-Season Tournament semifinals in Las Vegas, NV on Thursday.
