As most fans know by now, the Green Bay Packers have fired longtime head coach, Mike McCarthy. McCarthy was the coach of the Packers for 12 full seasons but could not reach the end of his 13th after the Packers were upset by the Arizona Cardinals yesterday.

The relationship between McCarthy and superstar quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, reached a boiling point after the frustrating loss. Watching both parties mannerisms on the field and at the podium made it clear that a separation was evident. No one expected it to come mid-season, however.

Rodgers spoke with ESPN's Rob Demovsky and discussed the firing of McCarthy and what is in store for the future.

“Like any relationship we've had amazing times and times when we butt heads,” Aaron Rodgers said. “We accomplished a lot together.”

He is right; they did accomplish a lot together from winning Super Bowl XLV, going to the playoffs eight straight years in a row, and going to the NFC Championship game on three occasions with Rodgers under center.

The last couple of seasons have been rough for the duo that brought a lot of success to Green Bay. If not for a magical run in 2016, Green Bay is looking at three straight years of missing the playoffs.

It was a rocky ending to an overall successful tenure in Green Bay. The firing may have been accelerated because of Aaron Rodgers. Going forward, the Packers next head coach will have to be someone who can cooperate with Rodgers if the Packers want any more success before he retires.
