Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers isn't about the individual stats anymore, as long as the team is winning games he is happy. In each of the last seven games, he hasn't finished with more than 250 yards passing, but the team has gone 5-2 in those games.
Rodgers knows with the way the running game has performed this year, he doesn't need to go into hero ball for the team to win games.
“I think the level of success and the way that I feel I’m playing is different in this offense this year,” Rodgers said, via Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com. “I don’t need to throw 40 touchdowns for us to win. I need to be great on my checks, be as efficient as possible. I need to take care of the football.”
In the team's last game against the Minnesota Vikings, stats-wise Rodgers didn't have the best game, but he still feels like he was playing at a high level.
“I felt like last game was one of my better games of the season,” Rodgers said. “You look at the stats and go, ‘OK, you’re (26)-of-40 for 200-something, no touchdowns. What are you talking about? Are you really lowering the bar for yourself that much?’ And I’d say, ‘No, I’m never lowering the bar for myself.’”
“The expectations are for greatness, but my responsibility was to get us in checks. My responsibility was to get us in the right protection scheme and take care of the football, and although I threw a pick, I felt like what I needed to do in that game.”
The Packers have a chance to pick up the number one seed in the NFC on Sunday with a win and a San Francisco 49ers loss. The Packers will probably try to use another balanced game plan from the offense. This team has been best this year when the running game has been strong along with Aaron Rodgers taking care of the ball.
