Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is fully committed to playing in the team's Week 16 matchup against the New York Jets.

There has been plenty of speculation as to whether Rodgers would continue to play this season due to various injuries, but even with the playoffs all but officially out of reach, the star quarterback seems pretty confident that he'll be under center this weekend.

After head coach Joe Philbin was a bit vague about the quarterback situation heading into Sunday, Rodgers wasn't shy about giving his status for the game.

Here's what he had to say about being available for the Jets game, courtesy of Josh Tolentino of The Athletic:

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers says he’s playing Sunday in New York: “Yes – It’s about leadership, how can I stand her and say these games don’t matter…that’s not the way I lead. I’m super competitive.”

You have to appreciate Rodgers' stance regarding the situation, as mathematically, the Packers still have a shot at making the playoffs.

Of course, there are probably many Green Bay fans that realize how slim those hopes are and would rather see Rodgers fully healed for when the new coaching regime takes over.

This will certainly be one of the most interesting offseasons in recent memory for the franchise, with the team needing to find their official replacement for former head coach Mike McCarthy.

But before they get there, Rodgers and company will prepare for the Jets before finishing up the regular season with a matchup against the Detroit Lions in Week 17.
