The Green Bay Packers have a looming major decision overhead the franchise with star quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the back end of his current deal. He is heading into the fourth year of his five-year, $110 million deal that has now pushed forward becoming one of the primary points of discussions this offseason.

However, there has been no timetable in terms of when this new lucrative extension will be put together. According to Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, Rodgers expressed on Tuesday morning that there is mutual interest in getting a deal done at some point but kept his focus on the team's offseason workout regimen.

Rodgers has remained firm on wanting to stay in Green Bay for the rest of his career, but it just may come down to the type of figures the team is willing to pay. The 34-year-old has certainly proven to be worth any lucrative given what he has proven on the field throughout his being arguably the best quarterback in the league that has led the team to numerous playoff appearances.

Although he is coming off shoulder surgery and is in his mid-30s, there is no reason to believe he can continue to play at an elite level while putting together several more highly productive campaigns.

This should lead to him working out a new deal that should make him the highest paid player in the league that could top the five-year, $137.5 million contract that Jimmy Garoppolo received this offseason from the San Franciso 49ers.

This situation may remain in the forefront as long as Rodgers is without a new extension in place as the further it lingers the more pressing the issue will become. It may simply be a matter of time before the two-time NFL MVP gets the deal that will keep in Green Bay for the long haul.
