Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has been on the receiving end of criticisms once again after his struggles during their Monday Night Football showdown with the San Francisco 49ers. However, Green Bay Packers star Aaron Rodgers is having none of it.

Rodgers came to the defense of Stafford and revealed his admiration for his fellow QB. Even during Stafford's time with the Detroit Lions, the Packers signal-caller admitted he has been a big fan of the 33-year-old.

“Those are trash comments. I’m a huge Stafford fan and have been for a long time,” Rodgers said during his latest appearance on the Pat McAfee Show. “We played against him for so many years. He’s one of the most gifted throwers in football, definitely of my generation. I'm a fan. He’s a tough dude and has played through some crazy injuries. I’m a big fan and he’s having a really nice season.”

While Matthew Stafford found little team success during his time with the Lions, the same can't be said of his first year with the Rams. The LA franchise is actually thriving with him under center, helping them to a 7-3 record so far.

Sure the Rams have lost two straight games for the first time this season, but as Aaron Rodgers said, Stafford is having a spectacular season and what he has shown so far is worthy of recognition.

The criticisms aside, Stafford knows that the only way for him to silence his critics is by playing really well. He made plenty of uncharacteristic mistakes on Monday, but he still has plenty of chances to bounce back and steer the Rams' ship in the right direction. And lucky for him, he has a big supporter in the Packers superstar.
