Geronimo Allison was a key part of the Green Bay Packers' offense through the first few weeks of the 2018 NFL season but has been out of the lineup due to injury. Unfortunately, he is not going to be returning to the field for the Packers this season.

According to a report from Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, Allison was placed on season-ending injured reserve due to a core muscle injury that he suffered.

The Packers also placed Geronimo Allison on injured reserve. The receiver needed surgery for a core muscle injury.

Over the past few weeks, the Packers have been very pleased with the development of their rookie wide receivers. Allison's role was already expected to be reduced somewhat due to Marquez Valdes-Scantling's emergence, which means that him missing the rest of the season will not hurt as much as it would have.

In the five games that he was able to play this season for the Packers, Allison caught 20 passes for 303 yards and a touchdown. That production shows why the Packers have been so high on him over the past couple of seasons.

Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay offense has struggled at times this season with consistency. Allison may not be a household name, but there was no question that he was a consistent performer. He also had a lot of chemistry with Rodgers, which could very well be missed later on in the season.

At 24 years old, Allison will be a restricted free agent this coming offseason. Green Bay likely will want to retain him, unless they are comfortable with the rookie receivers they have alongside Davante Adams and Randall Cobb.

Expect to see him attack his rehab process and come back stronger next season. Allison is a very talented player and showed glimpses of that potential in limited time this season.
