The Pittsburgh Steelers have continued to have much uncertainty around star running back Le'Veon Bell's future with the team as he continues to holdout into the 2018 season.
This has put more attention toward his pending free agency next offseason where he should be a highly targeted player in the free agent market. BetOnline.ag has posted early odds for where Bell may end up with the Green Bay Packers currently holding the third-highest odds.
Since the departure of Eddie Lacy a couple of offseasons ago, the Packers have been in search of a running back that can be the primary option. The team has rolled with Aaron Jones and Jamal Williams to split the workload in the backfield behind star quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
The addition of Bell would provide them with a legitimate star running back that the Packers could heavily depend on as he has developed into arguably the best player in his position with his productive play as both a runner and receiving option. He is coming off yet another impressive campaign where he finished third with 1,291 rushing yards and nine touchdowns along with a career-high 85 receptions for 655 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. This saw him lead the AFC in scrimmage yards (1,946) and ranked second in rushing yards.
Much of this could depend on the Packers' willingness to offer him a contract that meets Bell's financial demands that will likely make him the highest-paid player at his position in the league. He has put up the production that has put him in the position to earn a lucrative contract. This could see several other teams like the Steelers, San Francisco 49ers, and the Indianapolis Colts could pose a threat to lure him away. All of this is beginning set the table for what could be a highly active market for his services.
