The Green Bay Packers have a lot going on right now between Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams, and others. However, it sounds like the front office is close to reaching a deal with Jaire Alexander. The superstar cornerback didn't play much last year, but he's unquestionably one of the best defensive backs in the league.

Hopefully, we hear from Rodgers soon so the Packers can decisions on how to construct the roster. Regardless, Green Bay aims to secure one of their top defensive players as soon as possible. According to Ian Rapoport, “usually the extensions take place in the spring or into the summer, but this is certainly someone the Packers want to keep around for a very long time.”

Alexander is in the final year of his rookie contract and the Packers seem eager to extend him for years to come. It's unclear how much money he'll be making, but he's bound to receive a massive deal. We should see Jaire Alexander agree to a deal somewhere, “between Darius Slay's $16.7 million per year and Jalen Ramsey's position-pacing $20 million on average,” per Jeremy Bergman.

If that's the case, Alexander will easily be a top-five cornerback in terms of payment. He's been an absolute stud throughout his young career and should maintain that pace for years. The Packers have made multiple moves to increase their cap space this offseason and it sounds like some of that will be used on Jaire Alexander.

Keep an eye on the Packers and Jaire Alexanders, as he could be signing the extension soon. Green Bay doesn't want to worry about their star cornerback if he enters free agency, so signing a deal now makes sense for both sides.
