The Green Bay Packers have traded backup quarterback Brett Hundley to the Seattle SeahawksAdam Schefter and Rob Demovsky of ESPN report.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network adds that the Seahawks will send a 2019 sixth-round pick to the Packers in exchange for Hundley.

Hundley had been competing with DeShone Kizer, whom the Packers traded for earlier this offseason, for backup QB role behind Aaron Rodgers. Hundley went 23-of-37 for 263 with a passing touchdown, a rushing touchdown, and an interception in three preseason outings.

However, Kizer has performed well in preseason, which likely played a major part in the Packers’ decision to move on from Hundley. Kizer is now set to take over as Rodgers' primary backup this season ahead of Tim Boyle.

A fifth-round pick by the Packers in 2015, Hundley was thrust into a starting role for the first time in his career last season following Aaron Rodgers’ injury. He did not play particularly well, though, as he completed 61 percent of his passes for 1,836 yards and had nine touchdowns against 12 interceptions in 11 appearances (nine starts).

As for the Seahawks, Hundley gives them the backup quarterback for Russell Wilson that they’ve desperately needed. Austin Davis and Alex McGough were the other two quarterbacks behind Wilson prior to the Hundley trade.

The Seahawks reportedly offered a second-round pick to acquire Indianapolis Colts backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett, which the Colts rejected. Although, Colts GM Chris Ballard has denied that the Seahawks had offered the second-rounder.
