For those expecting Aaron Rodgers to be traded away from the Green Bay Packers soon, better hold that thought for now.

Based on the latest comments made by general manager Brian Gutekunst on Wednesday, they remain firm on keeping the veteran quarterback after another MVP season. The Packers are aiming to contend for the Super Bowl next season, and so parting ways with the best QB in the league is simply detrimental to that aspiration.

“Because I think we’ve got as good of a shot as anybody to go win a Super Bowl next year,” Gutekunst said on why he is uninterested in trading Rodgers, per Ryan Wood of Green Bay Press-Gazette. “He’s the MVP of the league, and that’s our goal. I think we have an opportunity to do it right now.”

Indeed, if the Packers decide to trade Aaron Rodgers, that would signal a rebuild centered around young gun Jordan Love. However, that could also not please their free agents this 2021 and cause an exodus of talent in Green Bay. The likes of Davante Adams, Kevin King and Robert Tonyan Jr., to name a few, are all unrestricted free agents and could opt to leave if the team shifts its focus on a full rebuild instead of contending for the championship.

However, there is still no official decision on Rodgers' future with the team. And since they are not really that high on parting ways with him, it is not surprising that Brian Gutekunts said there is “no deadline” yet on any decision to be made.

The offseason is a long one, so fans might have to wait for more time before getting clarity on Rodgers' future with the Packers.
