With how the Seattle Seahawks have been dismantling the organization this offseason, it is not shocking that Jimmy Graham wanted to find a new home. What was a little surprising is the home he found with the Green Bay Packers.

The Packers are not known for making big free agent acquisitions in the offseason. What drew Graham to the Packers is interesting as well, via ESPN.

“There was a lot of teams out there who were really pulling on me, and I turned down quite a significant amount of money to come here because I believe in not only Mike [McCarthy] but, I mean, 12’s hungry.”

He went on to talk about the competitive nature of Aaron Rodgers and the overriding desire in Green Bay to win a Super Bowl.

“…I know Aaron’s hungry, I know the coaching staff’s hungry, this franchise is hungry to win one. And that was the defining factor for me.”

Graham had developed into one of the most potent offensive weapons in the league while with the New Orleans Saints. But while in Seattle, he was never quite able to recreate the success he had in New Orleans with the Seahawks and Russell Wilson.

He was good but never great.

Rodgers has never really had a solid, play-making tight end to work with since becoming Green Bay’s starting quarterback. With Jordy Nelson gone, he could certainly use a reliable playmaker in the passing game that can work the chains.

It is entirely possible Graham could be that guy.
