The Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers are getting a lot of attention heading into the season and Matt Bowen of ESPN thinks they could have such a good season that Rodgers could be in line for a major award. After dealing with injuries each of the last two years, Rodgers is finally healthy and Bowen thinks that means Rodgers will win the MVP award.

“I picked Rodgers back in February, and I'm sticking with it. Healthy again, and playing in a new system that will create more rhythm throws and play-pass opportunities, I expect him to rack up top-tier numbers in 2019.”

Back in February, Bowen said he thinks Matt LaFleur's system will really help Rodgers and all the misdirections will open up the passing game even more.

“I'm betting on Rodgers' talent here and a new offensive system under new coach Matt LaFleur that will mesh more with the modern passing game. Expect misdirection and play-action to generate open window throws for Rodgers while keeping him on schedule in the pocket to dice up opposing secondaries.”

The other big improvement the Packers had this offseason was with the defense. To win the MVP award your team needs to have a lot of wins and with an improved defense that should take a lot of pressure off Rodgers and the offense to be at their best at all times.

If Rodgers was to win the MVP award, it would be the third time he has done so. He also won the award in 2011 and 2014.
