Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur spoke out on Aaron Rodgers' failed COVID-19 test and starting Jordan Love Sunday.

Packers.com senior writer Mike Spofford detailed exactly how LaFleur is planning on moving forward without Rodgers' services this week.

Matt LaFleur acknowledged that they will be without Rodgers for Week 9 against the Kansas City Chiefs, but he does not know exactly how long. He is taking the smart approach and keeping his eyes on the here and now.

The Packers travel to Arrowhead Stadium Sunday for a marquee matchup with the Chiefs. It was going to be the first ever meeting between Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes, as the latter missed the game in 2019 between Green Bay and Kansas City with an injury.

LaFleur exuded confidence in Jordan Love, saying “I think our guys will rally around Jordan. We've got a lot of confidence in him, and what a great opportunity for him to showcase what he can do.”

Love was the first round pick of the Packers in the 2020 NFL Draft, which caused a lot of waves in-house. Green Bay had just lost the NFC Championship the previous season. Most felt there were other needs to help get them over the top.

Third string quarterback Kurt Benkert was also placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday. That has forced the Packers to look elsewhere for a backup for the game Sunday.

Pro Bowl wide receiver Davante Adams also remains out due to COVID-19 protocols. He missed last week's game versus Arizona after contracting COVID-19. Green Bay is hopeful that he will be able to rejoin the team Thursday.
