The Green Bay Packers have aspirations of defensive dominance in 2019. That's all too apparent considering their bevy of additions, including Preston Smith, Adrian Amos, Za'Darius Smith, Rashan Gary, and Darnell Savage Jr.

Smith, in particular, has been dominating in training camp. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Tom Silverstein, Smith won all three of his one-on-one reps during Wednesday's training camp.

During Monday's practice, Smith was doing the same. According to multiple reports, the edge rusher made rushing the passer look easy, even against the NFL's best. All-Pro left tackle David Bakhtiari got beat twice in a row against Smith in pass-rushing drills. He has quickly ascended to be dubbed the Packers' best pass rusher despite a litany of talent on the roster.

Smith's training camp dominance shouldn't come as a surprise. The Packers inked the 27-year-old pass rusher to a four-year, $66 million contract when free agency kicked off to do just that. Despite starting just half of his games for the Baltimore Ravens in 2018, Smith tallied 8.5 sacks, 10 tackles for loss, 25 QB hits, 45 total tackles, a forced fumble, and 61 pressures, according to Pro Football Focus. In the three seasons prior, he had 10 sacks to his name.

With Smith dominating training camp, no matter the pass protector, the Packers' defensive stock is rising. The unit is completely rebuilt, devoid of big names Clay Mathews and Mike Daniels. It'll be interesting to see how Smith meshes with other talented pass rushers come the start of 2019. But, so far, he's doing just fine.
