Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers may be engaged to actress Shailene Woodley now, but his ex-girlfriend, former professional racing driver Danica Patrick, reportedly had a significant impact on his relationship with his family before they split.

According to US Weekly, Patrick wanted to heal Rodgers’ “strained relationships” with his family members, including his brother Jordan Rodgers, during their time together.

A source told the publication that Patrick worked to bring back Rodgers’ family members, and at one point even succeeded, as he was back on speaking terms with them. But it is unclear if the three-time NFL MVP’s relationship with his relatives has improved since parting ways with Patrick, who is credited for mending their connections.

Rodgers and Patrick were first rumored to be dating in late 2017 before their romance was confirmed in January 2018. But after more than two years of dating, it was reported last July that they were no longer together.

The 36-year-old signal-caller revealed during his MVP speech in February that he was engaged to Woodley. Patrick, who reportedly wanted to get married and start a family with Rodgers before they broke up, has moved on from the longtime Packers quarterback following the news of his engagement.

On the field, Aaron Rodgers is coming off a season that saw him complete 70.7% of his passes for 4,299 yards, 48 touchdowns, and just five interceptions en route to winning his third MVP plum. The Packers finished the season with a 13-3 record but fell to eventual Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Championship Game.
